The island of aegina
Τhe size is 82 square km. Population 13.000. More than half live on the main town of the island on the west side and the majority of the rest in the near by areas. Tourists visit the island for its proximity to Athens , its main tourist attraction ,the ancient Temple of Afea Athena, and the special feeling of the typical picturesque Greek island. The island has a wide array of tavernas with excellent local Greek food and plenty of cozy bars and clubs. Aegina has been developing rapidly the last few decades . It is popular with Politicians, celebrities , Artists and wealthy Athenians who visit during weekends , but it maintains the authenticity and the feeling of the postcard picturesque Greek island.
Greece has 227 islands. Most admirers of Greece know the heavy names of Greek island tourism (e.g. Corfu, Crete, Rhodes ). However the reality is that the true gems are the smaller islands unspoilt from the masses.
One such island is the island of Aegina with many distinct advantages. It is only 40 minutes from the Port of Athens , which in turn is another 40 minutes away from the gates of Athens International Airport.
Which means you can fly from anywhere in Europe to Athens on a Friday and once you arrive at Athens airport , you will be at your own home , which feels a world away from anywhere, in less than 2hours. And of course you may fly back at the end of the weekend
Aegina is about a quarter (1/4) of the size of Malta but its population is 1/40 that of Malta.
You have your own plot of complete isolation on the island’s eastern corner as you can see on the drone views and yet you can enjoy the Athens coastline from the utmost relaxation of your balcony.
The most popular resort of the island (Agia Marina) is only 3 km away if you fancy to party at night and at the same time you remain in total privacy ,hidden from the eyes of the ordinary.
The island boasts excellent ferry and hydrofoil connections with the Port of Athens (Piraeus) practically every hour all year round.
House of Neptune is 1 minute walk (again see drone views) from an almost exclusive beach with the clearest blue waters you could imagine. Unknown even to the locals and difficult to access for the ordinary folk and tourist it remains a closely guarded secret.
